Egg spot prices fall

Pre–May Day stocking support is still in place, but it has entered the final stretch. Upward momentum has weakened somewhat, and in some areas prices have dipped slightly due to slower sell-through. Currently, the number of laying hens in production is relatively high, and overall egg supply is sufficient. Coupled with high feed costs, it is expected that egg prices will remain at elevated levels and continue to trade in a range in the near term. After the May Day holiday, they will most likely pull back slightly, with both limited room for big increases and big decreases. Today, the average egg price in main producing areas is 7.73 yuan/kg in Shandong, down 0.20 from yesterday; 7.45 yuan/kg in Hebei, down 0.12 from yesterday; 7.87 yuan/kg in Guangdong, unchanged from yesterday; and 8.10 yuan/kg in Beijing, down 0.10 from yesterday.
