Telegram CEO Pavel Durov has called out French officials in a serious post today.
He says criminals are getting crypto holders' personal data straight from inside the French tax system.
A tax officer named Ghalia C. was caught selling investor details to gangs for around €800 per person. On top of that, a French crypto tax platform called Waltio was hacked, leaking data of over 5,000 French crypto users. Hackers have already linked more than $17 million in ransom payments to that leak.
Durov's message is simple:
"More data means more leaks, and more victims."
He also said Telegram would rather leave France than hand over private user messages to the government.
