Zondacrypto is facing allegations of fund misappropriation, as its CEO, Przemysław Kral, claims the exchange lost access to a wallet containing over 4,500 BTC. Kral stated that the wallet was sold to the exchange, but its former owner disappeared before delivering the private keys.
Key Takeaways:
- Zondacrypto CEO Kral revealed the exchange lost access to a wallet holding 4,503 BTC.
- This revelation sparked huge withdrawals, draining 99% of Zondacrypto’s BTC reserves.
- The 2022 disappearance probe of Suszek continues as Kral hopes for a key transfer.
Zondacrypto Faces Misappropriation Allegations Amid 4,503 BTC Misunderstanding
Zondacrypto, one of the largest cryptocurrency exchanges in Poland, has put itself in a rough spot after it was known that it had lost access to a wallet containing over $350 million in bitcoin.
Recently, Zondacrypto CEO Przemysław Kral published the Bitcoin wallet address on social media, clarifying that he had no control over the funds to dispel claims of misappropriation. In total, the wallet contains 4,503 BTC, according to Kral.

He alleges that he purchased this cryptocurrency from Sylwester Suszek, founder of the BitBay exchange, who was reported missing in March 2022. Kral claims he has a document giving him ownership of these funds, but lacks access to them as Suszek never transferred the private keys.
“When Sylwester is supposed to hand over the private keys to that address, according to these documents, he disappears instead,” he stressed.
Furthermore, he also rejected claims that he had anything to do with Suszek’s disappearance. “To all those who claim I had anything to do with Sylwester’s disappearance: this is the key argument that I care most about him being found. He may be watching this—I appeal to him to fulfill the agreement,” he declared.
While Kral offered assurance about the company’s financial standing, the reveal triggered massive withdrawals that depleted Zondacrypto’s bitcoin reserves by 99%, according to estimations. “No financial institution could survive this,” he stated.
The wallet address presented by Kral received the majority of these funds in 2016, and has more than 10 years without registering relevant transactions.
The disappearance of Suszek is still under investigation. While there is an individual facing kidnapping charges over this event, Suszek’s whereabouts are still unknown, and the case is far from being solved.
