Just realized a lot of people are struggling with updating their SASSA grant details, especially when it comes to changing banking information. If you're getting permanent grants like old age or disability, you pretty much have to go to the office in person—can't do it online unfortunately. You'll need your ID and a recent bank statement (not older than 3 months) showing the account is actually in your name. They won't pay into joint accounts or anything like that. The bank needs about 3 weeks to verify everything, so if you want the change to kick in next month, submit before the 15th or you're stuck with the old account for another cycle. For SRD grants it's different though—you can change banking details online through their portal, which is way faster. Just enter your ID number, they send you a link via SMS, and you update your account details from there. Takes a few days to verify instead of weeks. Either way, don't use fake websites claiming to help with this stuff. Stick to the official SASSA portal or call 0800 60 10 11 if you get stuck. Updating your cellphone number is just as important since that's how they send verification codes and payment notifications. Have you had to change your banking details recently? How long did it actually take to process?
