The Financial Committee has opened a public proposal window... to reflect on-site voices.

The Financial Committee has established a Citizen Proposal Window to directly collect unreasonable practices in the financial field and requirements for institutional improvements, and has decided to reflect the received opinions in future financial policy and institutional reform.

On April 21, the Financial Committee announced the above policy and explained that the “Financial Field Normalization Topic Proposal Center” has been in operation since the 20th. This window is a space for financial consumers and relevant people in the industry to freely propose institutional inconveniences or improvements they encounter in actual business. Anyone can participate through the “Participation Square” on the Financial Committee’s official website.

This move can be interpreted as policy authorities aiming to grasp more directly issues with a high level of on-the-ground awareness. Financial systems involve consumer protection, day-to-day financial matters such as loans and deposits, and regulations governing the business operations of financial companies. The mismatch between the inconveniences actually felt by end users and those perceived by industry and the institutional design is not uncommon. The Financial Committee said it will review the opinions collected by the proposal center and actively reflect them in the process of formulating future financial policies and making institutional improvements.

Financial Committee Chairperson Li Yiyuan said, “The problems that citizens feel firsthand on the financial front are the starting point of financial reform,” and “We will improve and develop the financial field based on the proposals submitted by you all.” This is interpreted as sending a signal that it will change away from a one-way policy design model and enhance the effectiveness of institutions based on on-site experience.

This trend may become an opportunity in the future for financial policy to gradually shift from being centered on providers to being centered on demanders and on-site. In fact, the actual effectiveness of this window’s operation will likely depend on the extent to which the received proposals can lead to concrete institutional changes.
