Gate Wealth Management GUSD Product: Analysis of Revenue Sources and Fund Security Assurance Mechanisms
GUSD is a flexible principal-protected financial product launched by Gate, where users can mint tokens using USDT or USDC at a 1:1 ratio to obtain a proof of earnings. GUSD is not a traditional stablecoin; rather, it is a financial certificate that introduces the concept of maturity returns on the blockchain, supported by low-risk real-world assets such as U.S. Treasury bonds and revenue from the Gate ecosystem. As of April 9, 2026, the total minting volume of GUSD has reached 160 million tokens, with an estimated annualized yield of about 3.00%.
Against the backdrop of ongoing volatility in the crypto market, converting funds into dollar-pegged stablecoins can effectively hedge against price fluctuations and retain capital for quick action when the market hits bottom. GUSD was born out of this demand as a robust asset allocation tool. The following analysis will focus on two dimensions: sources of returns and security guarantees.
Sources of GUSD’s Returns
GUSD’s earnings do not come from a single channel but are composed of three main components.
Treasury RWA Income. This is the core pillar of GUSD’s returns. The underlying assets backing GUSD are anchored to low-risk real-world assets such as U.S. Treasury bonds, generating continuous interest income through tokenized Treasuries. This design makes GUSD’s income sources clearer and more predictable, in stark contrast to highly market-dependent flexible financial products.
Gate Ecosystem Revenue. In addition to interest from Treasuries, Gate injects part of its platform ecosystem revenue into the GUSD earnings pool, providing holders with additional returns. This mechanism links platform value with user earnings, creating a positive feedback loop.
Overlay Yield from Launchpool. GUSD supports an overlay yield mechanism. Users can stake GUSD in Launchpool to participate in liquidity mining and earn additional project token rewards beyond the base annualized yield. According to official Gate announcements, all GUSD holdings in user accounts, except for residual coin products, can automatically participate in daily yield distribution, allowing users to earn double returns when engaging in other financial products.
Returns are automatically settled daily and distributed in GUSD to users’ spot accounts without manual intervention. It should be noted that the annualized yield rate is dynamically adjusted based on Gate ecosystem income, treasury RWA, and stablecoin-related asset performance.
Security Guarantee Mechanisms
The security of financial products is a key factor influencing users’ choice of platform. Gate has built a comprehensive security system covering the entire process from asset custody, technical architecture, to transparency.
Customer Asset Segregation. Gate enforces strict segregation of customer assets, keeping user funds completely separate from company operational funds. This arrangement complies with the latest requirements from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission regarding digital asset custody, ensuring that even if the custodian faces financial issues, users’ investment funds remain unaffected.
Hot and Cold Wallet Separation. Most user assets are stored offline in multi-signature cold wallets, with only a small amount of funds used for daily operations kept in online hot wallets. Cold wallets employ multi-signature technology, requiring multiple authorized signatures for any fund movement, fundamentally reducing hacking and internal operational risks.
100% Reserve Proof. Gate conducts regular third-party audits and publicly releases reserve proof reports. The platform uses Merkle Tree and zk-SNARK (Zero-Knowledge Succinct Non-Interactive Argument of Knowledge) technology to provide transparent verification of 100% reserves. zk-SNARK can mathematically prove the authenticity and integrity of reserves while protecting user privacy and business secrets. Users can independently verify the existence of their account balances within the Merkle Tree, confirming in real-time whether the platform’s assets are sufficient to cover user deposits. The overall reserve ratio of the Gate platform remains above 125%, higher than the industry-standard safety threshold of 100%.
Flexible Redemption and Liquidity
GUSD offers two redemption options to meet different user needs regarding cost and timeliness.
Fast Redemption: 0.1% fee, funds arrive within about 10 minutes, suitable for users requiring immediate liquidity.
Standard Redemption: 0.05% fee, funds arrive within three business days after submission, suitable for users seeking lower costs and willing to wait.
Both methods convert GUSD to USDC at a 1:1 ratio, with a transparent and stable process. The maximum minting limit per individual account is 5 million USDT or USDC equivalent.
GUSD Ecosystem Use Cases
GUSD has been deeply integrated into the Gate ecosystem, with application scenarios including Launchpool staking, spot trading, unified account margin, unified account lending, collateralized borrowing, and residual coin financial products. GUSD obtained through spot trading, deposits, or collateralized borrowing can generate minting returns normally, allowing users to enjoy daily interest without additional operations.
As of April 14, 2026, the overall crypto market sentiment remains neutral. Bitcoin is priced at $74,471.8, with a 24-hour increase of +4.71%; Ethereum at $2,372.49, +7.92%; GT at $6.76. In this environment of continued market fluctuation, GUSD, as a principal-protected financial product, offers a relatively stable asset allocation path.
Conclusion
In the cycle of crypto market volatility, allocating part of your funds into principal-protected products with clear income sources and transparent underlying assets is a common consideration when building an asset portfolio. By bringing traditional financial yields from government bonds onto the blockchain and supported by Gate ecosystem revenue, GUSD offers a new form of stablecoin holding. Daily automatic settlement of returns, flexible redemption mechanisms, and multiple layers of security architecture make it a distinctive tool within Gate’s financial products. Users can make independent judgments based on their actual needs for liquidity, security, and returns after fully understanding the product mechanisms.
