Just saw something that's been bothering me all morning. A blockchain investigator dropped what's essentially a smoking gun - over 200 crypto influencers got caught red-handed taking payments to promote projects without telling their followers about it.
Here's what went down. Someone leaked a list with names and wallet addresses showing exactly which influencers received compensation for their posts. The kicker? Out of 200+ people on this leaked list, only a handful - we're talking fewer than 5 accounts - actually disclosed that these were paid promotions. The rest just posted like they discovered these projects organically.
I've been thinking about why this hits different. It's not just about broken rules. When influencers do this, they're basically running a con on their own community. New investors see someone they follow hyping a project and think it's legitimate advice. They don't realize they're looking at a sponsored post dressed up as genuine enthusiasm.
The bigger picture here is trust. This leaked influencer data is going to shake how people perceive crypto personalities. Communities are already questioning who's actually giving real insights versus who's just chasing the next paycheck. And honestly? They should be.
Makes you wonder - how many other influencers are out there doing the same thing without getting caught? It's definitely making me more skeptical about who I follow and what sources I actually trust for market information these days.
What's your take on this? Are you still following these influencers after seeing leaked lists like this, or have you already moved on to other ways of staying informed?
