Solana Testnet Deploys Quantum-Resistant Signatures, Network Processing Speed Drops About 90%

Summary: Project Eleven and the Solana Foundation collaborated on deploying quantum-resistant signatures on the testnet. Preliminary results show that these signatures are 20-40 times larger than existing signatures, leading to a 90% decrease in transaction processing speed. Solana's public key design makes it more vulnerable to quantum attacks, surpassing Bitcoin and Ethereum. While the latter are actively seeking security solutions, Solana has taken the lead in quantum security experiments.
According to Gate News, on April 4, Project Eleven and the Solana Foundation partnered to deploy Post-Quantum Signatures on the test network, simulating network performance after replacing current cryptographic algorithms. Initial results indicate that quantum-resistant signatures are approximately 20-40 times larger than current signatures, causing a roughly 90% reduction in network transaction processing speed, directly impacting Solana’s high-throughput and low-latency design advantages. Additionally, Solana’s public key design exposes the entire network to a 100% risk of quantum attacks, allowing attackers to attempt to recover private keys from any wallet, posing a higher risk than Bitcoin and Ethereum.
While Bitcoin developers are urgently seeking quantum-safe solutions and Ethereum is preparing the "Q-Day" response plan, Solana has already advanced at the forefront of quantum security testing, with a functional quantum-safe testnet in place.
Project Eleven CEO Alex Pruden stated: "If the industry waits until the quantum threat actually arrives to start fixing it, it could take four years."#Gate广场四月发帖挑战
