The Ministry of State Security warns of risks from mnemonic-token scams, involving allegedly illegal financial activities such as stockpiling mnemonic tokens and off-exchange trading

Gate News message: On April 7, the Ministry of State Security issued a written notice to warn of the risks of “token scams.” The document states that activities such as “hoarding tokens to get rich” and “making a profit from the price spread in off-the-counter trading” are suspected of illegal financial activities, or may be used by overseas espionage intelligence agencies, thereby endangering the country’s economic security. The Ministry of State Security emphasized that when facing new technologies and new applications, people should take the initiative to embrace them and make good use of them, while also guarding against three types of risks: the risk of disclosure and hijacking, the risk of forgery and tampering, and the risk of scam traps. The document advises the public that when facing a token boom, they should view its value rationally, while also paying attention to information security and privacy security, improving their security awareness, and doing so by understanding tokens and using tokens well.
