Gate News: On March 16, Pi Network launched a new application feature called Pi Launchpad on the testnet. This version is currently live on the Pi app’s test network, allowing the community to experience and test the token issuance process before the mainnet’s official deployment. The official statement indicates that the current Launchpad only uses test tokens and does not involve real asset transactions.

According to reports, Pi Launchpad is designed to help developers issue new project tokens within the Pi ecosystem and promote the integration of these tokens with real-world applications. Unlike traditional token issuance models focused on fundraising, this platform emphasizes “practicality first,” requiring project tokens to be linked with actual application functions such as payments, service access, community governance, or user rewards.

Under this model, developers need to first build applications with real use cases and then issue corresponding tokens through Launchpad, avoiding purely speculative projects from entering the ecosystem. The Pi team believes this structure can foster a healthier application environment and promote long-term ecosystem development.

This testnet release also serves an educational purpose for the community. Pi community users (Pioneers) can access the test environment via Pi Browser to experience the Launchpad operation process, including token issuance, liquidity pool mechanisms, and related DeFi functions. The development team plans to gather community feedback during the testing phase and optimize system features based on user experience.

Regarding the token sale mechanism, Launchpad adopts a liquidity pool model. Participating users do not send funds directly to the project team but instead deposit Pi into the liquidity pool to form trading pairs with the newly issued ecosystem tokens. This structure aims to provide initial liquidity for new tokens from the outset and lay the foundation for future trading on the Pi decentralized exchange.

Pi Launchpad is part of the Pi Day 2026 update. This update also includes node system upgrades, secondary migration mechanisms, and KYC validator rewards, among other ecosystem optimizations. As the platform’s user base continues to grow, the Pi team hopes to attract more developers into the ecosystem through tools like Launchpad and promote the implementation of more practical applications.
