Our Founders

Changpeng Zhao (CZ), co-founder and former CEO, is a serial entrepreneur with a remarkable record in successful startups. In 2017, he launched the platform and, in just 180 days, grew it into the world’s largest virtual asset exchange by trading volume. As a recognized pioneer in blockchain, CZ expanded the project into a leading ecosystem encompassing the Exchange, Labs, Launchpad, Academy, Research, Trust Wallet, Charity, NFT, and more. Before founding the platform, CZ served as Director of R&D at Bloomberg Tradebook Futures, and later founded Fusion Systems in Shanghai. His introduction to Bitcoin was a pivotal moment, leading him to become CTO at Blockchain.com.

Yi He, co-founder, leads business, marketing, and brand strategy. Her strategic leadership was crucial to the platform’s expansion, transforming it from a trading platform into a global blockchain ecosystem. Previously, Yi was Vice President at Yixia Technology—a top mobile video technology company—where she led popular apps like Miaopai, Xiaokaxiu, and Yizhibo. She also co-founded several digital asset platforms. Widely recognized as one of the blockchain industry’s most influential female entrepreneurs, Yi helped set a trend for hiring women executives in an industry historically dominated by men.

Board of Directors

Gabriel Abed, Chairman of the Board, is a globally renowned technology entrepreneur with over 13 years in blockchain. Specializing at the intersection of regulatory innovation and fintech, he was founding CEO of Bitt, which launched one of the world’s first Central Bank Digital Currencies in 2013. In 2016, he co-founded Digital Asset Capital Management, a hedge fund quickly recognized as a category leader. As Barbados’ ambassador to the UAE and non-resident ambassador to Kuwait, Abed has built multilateral government, technology, and regulatory relationships.

Xin Wang, Independent Board Member, is a California-qualified attorney and Solicitor of England and Wales. She brings extensive experience in leveraged finance, acquisitions, projects, and M&A. Wang is Executive Director at NASDAQ-listed Bayview Acquisition Corp and a Consulting Partner at BHR Partners.

Max Yang, Independent Board Member, is a strategist and executive with broad global experience across Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas. A seasoned veteran in consumer goods, he has spent decades driving growth and strengthening corporate governance from Fortune 500 firms to fast-growing SMEs.

Richard Teng, the platform’s CEO, previously led MENA and European operations and headed Regional Markets outside the US. His deep regulatory background includes serving as CEO of the Financial Services Regulatory Authority at Abu Dhabi Global Market, where he was recognized among the world’s most innovative regulators.

Lilai Wang, Chief Product Expert and founding member, developed the advanced technology powering the platform’s Web3 innovations. She oversees the design and deployment of the exchange and wallet systems, ensuring security, stability, and scalability. With over a decade of financial sector experience, she has held leadership roles at Nomura and Morgan Stanley.

Heina Chen, Senior Executive and Co-founder, manages compensation, settlement, and treasury. With 14+ years in operations and entrepreneurship, Chen oversees all back-office functions for the world’s largest virtual asset exchange—including finance, HR, administration, and treasury.

Yi He, as Co-founder and executive leadership team member, sets vision and strategic priorities. Under her leadership, the platform reached 250 million registered users. Known as Chief Customer Officer in the community, Yi put users at the heart of the business.
