Now you want to use $ETH as a validator—you need to line up for a month and a half first.

Right now, about 2.47 million ETH are waiting to enter staking, with an estimated wait time of 43 days; almost no one is queuing to exit in the opposite direction. About 33.56% of ETH across the network has already been staked, and the annualized figure has been compressed to about 2.64%.
Rather than saying “it will definitely surge tomorrow,” everyone knows that returns are getting thinner and thinner, yet money is still crowding in. In the short term, the price will still fluctuate, but the amount of ETH that’s willing to stay liquid—ready to be sold at any time—is indeed getting smaller.
There are two things to watch: whether the entry queue keeps increasing, and whether exchange inventory is declining in sync—only then can it be considered that supply is truly tightening.
