According to Xinhua News Agency, at around 3 p.m. on April 4, a flying device crashed on Guangyang Island in Chongqing, injuring two people on board; both have been taken to the hospital.

Ms. Yang (using a pseudonym), who witnessed the whole process, told a reporter from Xiaoxiang Morning News Morning Video that she and her family were camping nearby at the time. After the flying device took off and flew for a few hundred meters, something happened. “Suddenly the sound became very loud. Everyone looked toward that side. The plane spun 360 degrees and then immediately fell.” Ms. Yang estimated that the flying device crashed from about 50 to 60 meters in the air.

Ms. Yang and her family ran to the crash site and saw the flying device’s tires pointing upward. A large amount of smoke rose on the scene. Staff members were using fire extinguishers to spray the flying device. A young girl was carried out and given emergency treatment. She had heavy bleeding from the head. Her mother collapsed on the ground beside her, and onlookers removed their clothes to shield the little girl from the sun. The pilot was a thin young man. He was not injured as seriously as the little girl. Both of them were taken away by the ambulances that arrived.

The reporter contacted a “hot air balloon” business on Guangyang Island. The staff member who answered the call said that the person involved in the incident was the aircraft owner. He was driving a glider at the time, with another passenger aboard. Both have been taken to the hospital. “I was sitting under the sky canopy at the time. I only heard the sound and came over,” the staff member said.

Another informed source told the reporter that the passenger was a girl. “He is providing rides; this is a commercial activity. He has commercial insurance. As for the accident’s cause, we still need experts to come to the scene to investigate and analyze it. No one wants this to happen. All we can do now is pray that the two are safe.”
