Anthropic plans to launch an AI application marketplace: aiming to expand the software ecosystem similar to Amazon Store
American AI company Anthropic is launching a new platform for its enterprise clients to purchase third-party software, which is expected to further expand the company’s product offerings.
On Friday (March 6), the company announced that “Anthropic Marketplace” will enable its customers to more conveniently purchase a range of software applications built on Anthropic models, including services from Snowflake, Harvey, Replit, and others.
Anthropic stated that this software store will not take commissions from transactions and will allow customers to redirect some of their annual spending used for Anthropic’s own services toward purchasing third-party tools—similar to Amazon and Microsoft’s software marketplace platforms.
In Amazon’s AWS Marketplace, customers can purchase nearly ten thousand AI agents and tools across categories such as software development, data analysis, legal consulting, finance and accounting, and marketing.

In recent years, Anthropic has also been pushing to sell AI software applications across a broader range of industries and is striving to establish itself as a core pillar for enterprise operations, especially as the company’s dealings with the U.S. government face new uncertainties.
Previously, the U.S. Department of Defense required Anthropic to fully open access to Claude, allowing the military to use the model for “all lawful purposes.” Anthropic stated it would not “consciencelessly” comply with the Department of Defense’s demands.
Earlier this week, the U.S. Department of Defense officially notified Anthropic that it has been designated as a “supply chain risk,” which could hinder the company’s ability to do business with the U.S. government and affect collaborations with other companies on defense projects.
In response, Kate Jensen, head of Anthropic Americas, said, “This is a topic we are frequently discussing with our clients. The good news is that, for now, we expect the vast majority of our clients’ operations to continue as usual.”
On Thursday, Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei stated that the scope of U.S. government restrictions is limited and will not affect Anthropic’s other business activities unrelated to specific contracts with the Pentagon.
A Microsoft spokesperson also confirmed that the company can continue collaborating with Anthropic on non-defense projects. Nevertheless, significant uncertainties remain for companies working with both the Pentagon and Anthropic.
