Foresight News reported that according to The Block, Bitwise Chief Investment Officer Matt Hougan analyzed that the crypto market started 2026 well, but whether the uptrend can be sustained depends on overcoming three key obstacles. Hougan stated that Bitcoin and Ethereum have both risen approximately 7% year-to-date, while more speculative assets like Dogecoin have achieved greater gains. However, prices fell on Wednesday, raising questions about whether the New Year's uptrend can continue. He pointed out that the first obstacle has been cleared, namely avoiding large-scale market volatility similar to the market crash event on October 10 last year, which resulted in liquidations of at least 20 billion dollars in crypto futures positions on that day. He stated that while concerns about large market makers or hedge funds potentially being forced to liquidate previously exerted pressure on prices last year.
